Maggie's favorite activity is to sew. She recently completed and delivered 75 pillowcases to her
orthopedist, Dr. Shawn Standard, of the Rubin Institute at Sinai Hospital in
time for his mission trip to the Dominican Republic on February 17, 2014. About a year ago, when Dr. Standard learned
of Maggie’s interest in sewing he challenged her to make pillowcases for the
children he and his colleagues would be caring for abroad. He said, “Maggie if you’ll make
the cases I’ll provide the pillows, and we will give them to children who have
very little, let alone a place to lay their head.” Maggie agreed.
It was just recently that Maggie was introduced to the iPad and the art applications that enable her to create her own digital drawings. While it has taken some getting used to, Maggie enjoys drawing and looks forward to transferring her art into designs for her pillowcases.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to be creative and hope that my art makes people smile.” - Maggie Breschi
